Hello Beijing!

The first stop on my trip to China was the beautiful city of Beijing , the nation’s spiritual heart for the last seven centuries. Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and has a population of over 17 million.

We were met at the airport and transferred to the hotel by the local english speaking guide from Beijing Central Tours. Beijing is a beautiful city with the average temperatures during our stay lingering at 10 deg as the city was still in the winter season.

Our itinerary in Beijing was as follows:

  • A visit to Tiananmen Square, and the  Forbidden City
  • A trip to the Great Wall at Badaling Section
  • A morning visit to Summer Palace with a boat ride across the lake

Our english speaking guide for the trips was both friendly and extremely informed about the history, culture and places of interest which kept us in awe of this fascinating city.

Nothing could have prepared us for this experience as you had to be very present in China to fully understand both the beauty and the culture of this magnificent country, the cuisine and the historic landscapes. Although the language and communication was a little problematic at times ,we were thankful for the app that translated for us and made life a tad easier.

The few days spent in Beijing was not enough to fully explore the city but we were glad for the places we had visited and were looking forward to the second leg of our trip.

Pics below show off the highlights of our tours in Beijing.
