I love baking and cooking for my family and although I do not have a sweet tooth , I love trying out new recipes to spoil my family.

I came across this scone recipe on Facebook and was eager to give it a try as there were such good reviews about these scones.

sconesThese scones are so soft and  light and certainly the best home baked I have tasted in a long time.


  • 3 cups flour
  • 1cup icing sugar
  • 6tsp baking powder
  • 125g cold butter
  • 1egg
  • Maas or yoghurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
Sift flour,sugar and baking powder
Grate in butter and rub with finger tips to form breadcrumbs.
Beat egg with a little maas and vanilla and add to flour mixture
 If dough is a little dry add more maas to make a soft dough
Dough must be soft and if it is slightly sticky that is fine.
Bake at 180°C for 12-15mins till golden
Butter must be cold
Do not over knead the dough
Leave the scones out for 10 minutes before baking
Serve with jam and cream or cheese
